Adler V. Duval And Chandler V. Siegelman: Overview
[ send me this essay ]
7 pages in length. Two of the most opposing forces on the planet are the concepts of church and state; to intersect them in any public forum sets off a rampage of protest and anger that often ends in a race to see which side gets to claim victory based upon constitutionality. Siegelman, two cases where free speech, free exercise and the establishment clause all came under fire based upon perceived illegality and blatant constitutional infringement. Admission Essay: MA in Education
[ send me this essay ]
A 4 page paper placing the phrase, “Why I want to be a teacher” in more academic terms. The paper concludes that teachers always have had the opportunity to have lasting influence in students’ lives, but it appears that today’s educational environment holds more promise for that outcome than existed in previous generations. A solution for lack of performance in the past was to “throw money” at whatever symptom gained attention first. Today’s budgetary constraints prevent that from being the first – and even the only – alternative considered, encouraging the use of creativity and visionary thinking instead. Against Banning Books In Public Schools
[ send me this essay ]
10 pages in length. Every year, individuals and groups alike demand that yet another book is removed from school libraries, as well as from particular classroom curricula. Claiming that the content is too explicit or inappropriate, these self-aggrandizing censors are wreaking havoc on students' First Amendment rights. The question then becomes: Just how far does the First Amendment go to protect the students? It has been assumed by censors that students do not have the ability to choose appropriate reading material; that their assistance is necessary to keep harmful and unsuitable material out of sight. Indeed, the issue of censorship in America's schools is an issue of rights. Former United States President Jimmy Carter once said that America did not invent human rights; rather, it was human rights that invented America. If this is true, then each individual must be allowed to pursue his own choices, whether that is with regard to books or any other form of media. To impose limits on what is permitted and what is not is to remove one our most fundamental rights of all. Bibliography lists 17 sources.
